Comments of Kelly Kurz,
BookkeeperI thought massage was an indulgence; however, after
working with Melissa over the past two years, I have found it to be so
much more. I have become more at ease with my body and realize that
the muscle and soft tissue manipulation not only feels good, but also
leads to an emotional contentment that I haven’t felt in years.
Melissa is astute and tailors each and every treatment to meet my
changing needs. I have never left her office without feeling twice as
good as when I arrived, and massage is now part of my wellness
routine. |

Having experienced impressive results from massage, as well as less-than-stellar experiences, I was delighted to find that Melissa Banno combines the highest level of expertise as she draws from different massage styles. Her range of knowledge and uncommon sensitivity provides the client with a health-promoting experience which eases muscular aches, postural problems, enhances circulation, and helps the body recover from accumulated stress. She is undoubtedly one of the best massage therapists I've encountered. Each massage increases one's awareness of realigning and relaxing, staying young and feeling good. What a blessing to have you here in the Greenville area, Melissa.

I was involved in two car accidents in 1991. From those accidents I suffer from back pain. I also have fibromyalgia, which can be very painful, along with severe arthritis in my low back. For the past three years I have suffered from severe migraines. I finally decided to try massage from Melissa about one month ago. Had I known the wonderful results of Melissa's techniques I would have gone a long time ago. My back pain is greatly reduced and overall I am feeling better. I feel more positive about my life due to such a reduction in pain. I am grateful to Melissa for her positive approach to my needs. |

Comments of J. Jablonski,
County Gov't Program Supervisor
For most of my career I viewed massage as a luxury and a form of unnecessary self indulgence. Late in my career and suffering from hypertension and lower back pain not to mention the stresses associated with managing a County wide public service program, I reconsidered my position about massage. Thanks to Melissa Banno I now find that Therapeutic Massage offers me an excellent and cost effective method of dealing with these issues while maintaining a very busy schedule. I am now looking forward to retirement in the next year or two and find Wholesome Healing a valuable ally in this quest. During a recent medical exam I enjoyed lower blood pressure and even matched one medication to work in conjunction with bi-monthly massage. By the way, thanks to Melissa, I look forward to each and every massage because it just down right feels good and reminds me what "stress free" actually feels like. Thanks Melissa! |

Melissa has been a breath of fresh air, not just for my body, but also for my mind and spirit. Her intuitive nature enables her to identify the actual origin of pain, which is often quite different from the place it is felt. She is unencumbered by traditional expectations. Her entire goal is to find and ease the discomfort that our lives can sometimes bring. There are many unexpected gifts in life.
For me, Melissa is one of them. |

I am a marathon runner, age 57. I need a serious professional to work on problem areas created by long stressful workouts. I have been seeing Melissa monthly for about one year now. She delivers just the right combination of deep muscle work with muscle relaxation. While my running buddies have experienced numerous injuries over the past year, I have been injury free for the most part. I attribute this in large part to the regular monthly session with Melissa. She understands the special needs of people who make serious demands on their bodies. Along with proper sleep and diet, a regular monthly message is a part of my overall training plan. |

Massage therapy with Melissa has given me relief of muscular tension, reduced pain, reduced hypertension, relief from headaches, reduced anxiety, reduced lower back pain, improved circulation, enhanced skin condition, and relief from both physical and mental stress. The is the only time I am completely relaxed. |

Comments of Jay Meggison,
Chiropractic Physician:
I cannot believe I’ve waited so long to do this. It has been one of the best things I have ever done for myself. It has relieved a lot of my stress and as an athletic individual I’ve found it has helped my performance.
I recommend massage to my patients and I recommend it to you. It is not a frivolous luxury. It is an important component of my total health plan. I recommend Melissa highly. I cannot say enough good things about her. She is a caring individual and a consummate professional.

Comments of Joyce Holdeman,
Registered Nurse:
I was skeptical of massage therapy because I thought of it as “rubbing my skin”. My aunt from California recommended I try it for my lower back pain. So I did! What I found were all of the above indicated. The most enjoyable apart is the relaxation. One of the most beneficial parts is that for a short period of time I would not have any pain, but it helped me to cope more effectively when the pain did return. Regular, frequent massages is my recommendation for myself and for you, and for whatever ails you!!

Comments of Ralph H. Steele,
Retired University Professor:
During and immediately following Chemotherapy, Radiation Therapy and multiple surgeries designed to rid my body of cancer, I became personally aware of the multiple benefits of Massage Therapy. Prior to receiving medical treatments, I experienced a recurrence of arthritic pain in my left shoulder. These pains, which had periodically occurred for many years, were now becoming acute enough to prevent me from comfortably swimming and engaging in activities that required full extension of my left arm. Fortuitously, I received the gift of a series of massage therapies as practiced by Ms. Melissa K. Banno.
I have been very pleased with this series. In addition to experiencing a general feeling of well-being both during and following each session, I have experienced a reduction of pain in my shoulder and an increase in my ability to extend my left arm.
Perhaps not by coincidence, I have been reading of the benefits of physical touch upon humans in general and autistic individuals in particular. These benefits are not limited to humans but to domestic and wild animals as well. It seems that when it comes to “touch”—whether administered by subjective humans and sensitive hands or objective machines and unfeeling devices—the calming and ameliorative benefits of being touched become operative. However…
Years ago I occasionally treated myself to a session with other certified therapists whose massage-table manners were, well, cold and objective. All business! They may have known the anatomy, kinesiology, and physiology of the human body, but they simply lacked both the “human touch” and the “senses” of being human—including having and sharing a (therapeutic) sense of humor.
Ms. Melissa Kirkland Banno has what it takes to be a highly effective Massage Therapist. She not only has (1) the credentials of LMBT and (2) the Therapeutic Touch, but also possesses and uses that sensitivity we humans know as (3) A Sense of Humor.

America is so obsessed with “doing” that they forget to “be”---This is the first time I’ve really experienced this [just being]. Last week after my session I felt joy. Today I feel peace, a centeredness…..
The state [NC] would be wise if they gave teachers this as part of their insurance plan-----------they wouldn’t have to pay for as much Prozac!! |

Comments of McLean Brice,
Commodity Broker
I have seen a notable improvement in my posture and low back pain. At first I thought the energy work was a waste. I wanted a full hour of deep muscle massage, but now the energy work is my favorite part and I think it gives me the greatest benefit. The massage part is still great, too, however. (It all goes together.) |

My visits with Melissa have given me much needed relaxation and provided the opportunity for much needed stress relief. I recommend massage therapy for anyone leading a busy schedule. But get the one hour session. Thirty minutes is too short! |
